Tipsters Lead Officers To Man Wanted For Rape, Assault Of Minors In Maryland: Police

Tipsters helped police in Washington County apprehend a man believed to be homeless who was wanted for sexual offenses involving minors, authorities announced.

An alert was issued on Thursday regarding 26-year-old Luis Fernando Parada, of no fixed address, who was wanted for rape and assault involving two minor victims.

On Friday, Oct. 11, police say that Parada was arrested at around 11:40 a.m. at Fairgrounds Park after investigators were tipped off about his possible location.

"We want to thank our community that shared our social media post, the local media for getting the story out and the individuals that started sending us tips," a spokesperson from the Hagerstown Police Department stated. 

"A tipster alerted us this morning to Prada's location and a team of officers moved in to make the arrest."

Parada was taken to police headquarters for questioning, police said, and then will be taken to the detention center to be processed.

Officials said that they are unaware of any other crimes or sexual assaults involving Parada, but are continue to investigate in case there are additional victims.
